Mr Peters, Just a note to tell you how pleased we are with the "What Now???" ETA. We have used it during several evacuation drills at various station locations and have received nothing but positive comments about this tool. Enclosed you will find an article we are submitting to our Navy Fire Service Newsletter entitled What's Happening. Please feel free to use this in advertising and maybe we can bring several more military installations on-board. Thanks for bringing us a great tool to use in educating everyone on the importance of fire safety.

In case of an emergency or fire, “Do you know two ways out”?

MCAS Beaufort Fire Prevention Branch is testing a new tool that can teach you just that. This tool is an evacuation training aid (ETA) known as “What Now???®”. This tool is a 6’ x 4’ heavy duty laminate cardboard flames that redirects foot traffic, blocks exits and helps people determine primary and secondary escape routes during evacuation drills.

The best evacuation plans have two ways to get out of each room. If the primary way is blocked by fire or smoke, you will need a second way out. We have received great feedback during the drills during which this tool was used. Lead Inspector Joseph Otterbine stated that most people become accustomed to using one exit during evacuations, so this tool challenges them to find a second way out!

MCAS Fire Inspector James Botelle explains purpose of “What Now???®” to Middleton S. Elliott Elementary School Principal Barbara Hazzard.

After seeing that their primary exit path is blocked, the teacher immediately redirects the children to their secondary exit.
